Szenenwechsel (Change of Scene) is a funding programme of the Robert Bosch Stiftung in collaboration with the International Theatre Institute.
The societal changes of the past few years have had a significant impact on the countries of Eastern Europe and North Africa. This is especially apparent in view of contemporary theatre. Being part of the controversy on the social and political upheavals of the past and present new aesthetics are being developed and theatre discourses pushed.
The programme Szenenwechsel aims to stimulate and establish lasting international partnerships between two countries. Between 2013 and 2018 there were six calls for proposals for theatres and independent theatre groups from the German-speaking region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) who cooperated with partners in Eastern Europe or Northern Africa. Nearly 60 projects were supported. For the conclusion of the programme the festival and network meeting XCHANGES took place in kampnagel, Hamburg from May 16th to 18th 2019.
